Brand Naming & Taglines

A great name does half the marketing for you.

Brand naming is the process of creating a name that is memorable, meaningful, easy to say and legally available — for a company, a product, a real estate project or a sub-brand. Nebula Brand Labs creates names and taglines that fit your strategy, work across languages and leave room for your brand to grow.

About the service

Your name is the first thing people hear and the last thing you'll want to change. It shows up on every invoice, hoarding, app store listing and conversation about you. A weak name makes everything harder: it's forgotten, misspelled or confused with a competitor. A strong one gets remembered after a single mention.

We treat naming as a creative and strategic exercise. We generate hundreds of options, filter them against clear criteria, check domain and trademark availability, and present a shortlist you can feel confident about.

What's included

  • Naming brief — what the name needs to say, who it needs to appeal to and what to avoid.
  • Name generation — hundreds of candidates across different styles: descriptive, invented, evocative and compound.
  • Screening — checks for meaning in key Indian and global languages, pronunciation and spelling.
  • Availability checks — preliminary domain, social handle and trademark-class searches.
  • Shortlist presentation — 5–10 strong names shown in real-world contexts.
  • Tagline development — taglines and brand lines to pair with the chosen name.
  • Project & product naming — naming for real estate projects, product ranges and sub-brands.

Who it's for

  • Founders naming a new company or startup
  • Real estate developers naming a new project or tower
  • Brands launching a new product, range or variant
  • Businesses whose current name is confusing, limiting or hard to trademark
  • Companies creating a campaign line or new tagline

Our approach

  1. Brief — We define what the name must communicate, the tone it should strike and the practical constraints.
  2. Create — Our writers generate a long list of names across multiple naming styles.
  3. Filter — We screen for meaning, pronunciation, cultural fit and preliminary availability.
  4. Present — You see a shortlist of names, each with its rationale and shown on logo mock-ups, signage or packaging.
  5. Finalise — We help you choose, refine the spelling and pair it with a tagline.

Why Nebula for naming

  • Writers and strategists together. Names that are both creative and commercially sound.
  • Built for India and beyond. We check how names sound and what they mean across languages.
  • Seen in context. Every name is shown as it would live in the real world, not as a word on a slide.
  • Seamless next steps. Once you've chosen a name, we can design the identity straight away.

Frequently asked questions

How do you come up with a brand name?

We start with a naming brief that defines your positioning, audience and personality. Then our team generates hundreds of names in different styles — some descriptive, some invented, some built on metaphors or local words. We filter them down using clear criteria such as memorability, meaning, pronunciation and availability, and present a carefully chosen shortlist.

How many names will I see?

You'll see a shortlist of five to ten names that have passed our screening. Behind them is a much longer list, which we're happy to share if you'd like to see the thinking. A focused shortlist makes it easier to choose well.

Will you check whether the name is available?

Yes, we run preliminary checks on domain names, social media handles and trademark databases in the relevant classes. These checks reduce risk significantly, but they aren't a legal clearance. Before you register, we recommend a formal search with a trademark attorney.

What if I don't like any of the names?

It happens, and it's useful. Your reactions tell us a lot about what you're really looking for. We'll discuss what felt right and what didn't, adjust the brief and run another round of names.

How long does naming take?

A naming project usually takes two to four weeks, including the brief, creation, screening and presentation. Project and product names within an existing brand can be faster.

Can you name a real estate project?

Yes, it's one of the things we do most often. Project names need to feel premium, suit the location and target buyer, and work on hoardings, brochures and RERA documents. We usually pair the name with a tagline and identity for a complete launch.

Do I need a tagline as well as a name?

Not always, but a good tagline helps explain what your name can't. If your name is invented or abstract, a tagline adds clarity. If your name is descriptive, a tagline can add personality. We'll recommend what fits your brand.

Can you help me rename an existing business?

Yes. Renaming needs extra care because you have existing customers, search rankings and recognition to protect. We'll help you decide whether to rename completely or evolve the current name, and plan how to communicate the change.
